Wh-ise Visual Identity

Wh-ise Visual Identity

Overview

WHISE is an Italian startup that produces climbing holds and tools made from recycled wood. WHISE’s goal is to build a community of passionate climbers who are environmentally conscious.

The main challenge was to create the visual identity from scratch, ensuring the logo was versatile enough to be easily applied to wooden holds and equipment.

Process

The biref

I began with a comprehensive brief focused on the founder’s vision for the startup, its core values, and goals. Afterward, I conducted a second brief, more centered on the founder’s ideas for the logo and communication elements.

From this initial brief, I started crafting a document that outlines the tone of voice, graphic and visual style, colors, imagery, and all the components of WHISE’s visual identity.

Logo creation

Throughout the logo creation process, we maintained close collaboration, iterating through various ideas. We initially explored the concept of using a mascot as the focal point of the logo, but eventually shifted toward a typographic logo.
The color palette primarily reflects the tones of wood, with subtle nods to nature.

Outcome

The WHISE logo features a font that mimics the contours of climbing holds and incorporates two arrows symbolizing the recycling of wood used to create the products.

In addition to the logo, there is a comprehensive document outlining its proper usage, communication style, color palette, and image style.
